The Story Of DW & Its Audio
Just about everyone in countries like the UK, United States, Canada, New Zeeland, Australia etcetera should have heard of the world famous science Fiction television series Dr. Who from the BBC! Now that Doctor Who is back on television since 2005 after it’s 15 year absence the series has gotten to be pretty popular once more, so mush so in fact that even the Science fiction channel has taken an interest in the television show.
DW all began in November 1963 when it’s 1st episode aired on television taking the Doctor and his friends back into the past where they aided some cavemen to use fire for the first time. Taking into account the totally new show Doctor Who is currently the longest running Sci-Fi series of all time! Star Trek is the 2nd longest running Science fiction series of all time having began in nineteen sixty thee with episodes in production up in to only a few years ago.
During the 70s the BBC expanded Dr. Who onto the audio median making the first Dr. Who Audio. In the beginning the BBC solely made soundtracks from the original TV series and then had the Drs of the time add some linking narration for completion. It wasn’t long before the BBC decided to take the audio releases to the next level by releasing audio book episodes exclusively for Audio Book release.
Also the Doctor Who Audiobook family was extended with the release of Audio Books from stories that had exclusively appeared on the radio. Another brilliant use the BBC have found for audio with Dr. Who is the re-creation of old stories that had been lost. The collection spans all the way though the first Dr right up until the present Dr, David Tennant. In addition Torchwood Audiobooks and Sarah Jane Audio Books have also been added recently.
On our planet today audio is even more popular than ever thanks to MP3 players. Audios help us to achieve more out of our increasingly busier days, as it is so easy for as to listen to them while doing other things like working out, house work, driving, and and additional chores that allow us to multitask. Another great factor about audio titles is that they are very often narrated by their original actors, which really adds to the whole experience.
With the Doctor Who New show going from strength to strength and everyday additional Audiobooks being created available both from the old and new serial & now from Torchwood & The Sarah Jane Adventures as well, it looks like DW and Dr. Who Audiobooks are here to stay for some time to come!
